The London Borough of Redbridge

Redbridge is a London borough in East London, England. The name comes from a bridge
over the River Roding; it was made of red brick, unlike other bridges in the area
which are made of white stone.

History
The borough was formed in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Ilford
and Municipal Borough of Wanstead and Woodford with part of the Municipal Borough
of Dagenham and part of Chigwell Urban District, all of which had previously been
part of Essex.
